Essential 8: How Does Your Organization Rate?
In this webinar, you will learn:
- The current state of cybersecurity affairs in Australia
- An overview of Essential 8 guidance
- How Duo can help meet 4 of the 8 Essentials
- How Deakin University implemented Duo
If you’re looking for insight as organizations rapidly adapt to support skyrocketing remote access needs, Deakin University can provide a unique perspective. Higher education institutions like Deakin face a particular challenge when designing their security strategy: having to manage a varied user population of staff, faculty, and students, many of whom will bring their own devices and may have limited familiarity with these processes and technologies. Additionally, these users will have mass onboarding/offboarding events that align with the academic year, and must be managed across a distributed and often remote population.
Released in 2017 and updated last year, the Essential 8 framework created by The Australian Cybersecurity Centre lays out a clear path to implementing critical security controls every organization should implement as a strong baseline defense posture. These controls include access control, endpoint management, data loss prevention, and application security measures for critical tools like Microsoft Office365 that address the most pressing threats seen in the wild today.
Learn how Deakin met several of the control measures outlined by the Essential 8, leveraging the service for multi-factor authentication as well as device visibility and zero-trust access controls. Join Ganesh Umapathy and Karl Lewis from Duo Security, along with special guest Dushyant Sattiraju, the Cyber Security Operations Team Lead at Deakin University, for a real-world discussion of the Essential 8 journey and how Duo can help.
